The Foundation’s mission is to make a difference in the areas we serve. We seek to enrich and strengthen underserved communities in the following areas of specific interest:
- The Arts (performing and visual)
- Education (academic, vocational, and year-round enrichment to address learning gaps resulting from out of school time)
- Environmental conservation (water, wildlife, and fisheries)
- Social services for vulnerable and needy populations that have limited resources (basic needs and enrichment)
Grant making is primarily focused in North America, with emphasis where the family has direct connections and interests. The Foundation does not provide grants to organizations involved in sectarian or political advocacy.

The Weston Foundation was founded in 2007 and since then we have sometimes struggled to define our common goals as a charitable entity. In a world where need seems ubiquitous, the task of selecting a relatively small number of causes to support can be overwhelming. Our goal is to promote the greatest good in a way that is consistent with our values. Many members naturally elect to support charities based on a personal connection or interest, and the concept of ethical giving remains an important topic of discussion.
