Releasing a Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle

Conservancy of Southwest Florida Research Manager Dr. Jeff Schmid studies Kemp’s Ridley sea turtles – the most endangered sea turtles on the planet.

Turtles are tagged, released and their movements can be tracked via satellite telemetry. Research activities are conducted under NMFS permit #18069 and FFWCC permit #136. We were recently invited to observe the release of 3 sea turtles.
